JOHN DUMELO - March 2013

The other day, like 3 weekends ago, I went to an event in Maryland because my friend was throwing a party so i went there to support them.. you know, Ghana love, all the time, right? While there, John Dumelo and Van Vicker were there. Ok cool. I have never met John Dumelo before. While there, i met him and I must say: 1) he is HOTTTT 2) He is ridiculously nice and normal 3) I better go and watch every single movie he has made because i have not watched a John Dumelo movie in like 3-4 years...true confession-- ay yi yi-- can i get African movies on Netflix---what?!?!? Me and Johhny D :)

MARCH 2013

I am still with my same NY agent-- yeah. I had a casting with CONWAY stores, you know- that retail store in New york, they are everywhere, with some lady named katherine. The casting was great the lady was so so so sweet and told me i was gorgeous. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT I was not gorgeous enough to book the job. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !! Black aint in this season- what else can I say? On my way to another casting-- CONWAY retail Really though? I really think as a DARK model, it is VERY HARD to book modeling jobs. Will i bleach my skin? no. Will i get a phat weave? Maybe, ha hahah. All you can do is be yourself..going to castings costs time and money becasue i do not live in NEW YORK so each time i go to a casting it is like a $180 event... yep. And then to not get cast means that is money down the drain... HELLO!!! Well in other news, lets talk about GHANA-- i went to GHANA in January and it was AWESOME!!! I got to go to TEMA to see MOB Studios and while there I saw FUSE ODG,sarkodie, Stay Jay, Ikonz,and so many other wonderful people-- oh ATumpan, Possigee of course, Kilbeatz.. it was like a dream made in heaven!!! Ghana was FABULOUSSSSSSSS.. I also made a guest appearance on VIASAT, in case you missed that I will upload a photo for all of my thousands of followers, right (wink wink). GHANA IS GREAT!!! WHy cant i just go model in GHANA?Theres nothing more annoying than seeing non ghanaians modeling for Ghanaian brands when i am perfectly right here...CALL ME OHH!!!Theres a Nigerian modeling agency that sends its models to model in Ghana. Hello, I am Ghanaian, 100%...send me.... Plus means normal size- dont get it twisted people!!!

INSPIRATION

Today i logged into the BLOGCAMP13, an event held in ghana for bloggers- its that simple.And it totally inspired me. I have like 6 blogs, some you will never know i am running and some you will. But like, i dont do it consistently..Well some i do, but those are like my "ghost" blogs.Anyways, i felt inspired by the whole thing. 1) i felt inspired to pay more attention to this blog because surely someone out there is paying attention. 2) i felt inspired to blog more frequently, which i can surely do 3) i felt inspired to just be me, which isnt hard because i am always me. I love music, food, fashion, and toys. So stay tuned people :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! The other day I was watching a show called CURVY GIRLS, and boy is it interesting. What was even MORE interesting was when I saw myself in the video..Yes, at the Full Figured Fashion week casting, in that episode, I am in it.I am the black girl sitting down moving her hair and filling out paper work. Dont worry LornaLitz, I did not book that casting either. How in the WORLD did I end up in this show--- how HILARIOUS!! Thinking about it now, I DO remember video cameras but i never thought about it again..ha ha ha, how funny.. Well now that same show is casting again.Maybe I will apply I am on my way to GHANA>> WOO HOO!! I can not wait.So excited. A few weeks ago I found a great photographer in my area named Yvonne.The photos she took were AWESOME because I DESPERATELY needed to update my book.When i get the new photos, I will share them with you ASAP, I promise. Last year was a good year.Castings slowed down, but it was okay,Im in school, so it was good for me, personally.Like they say,modeling should be a HOBBY, you should always have a backup plan. I have two degrees, and im working on a 3rd one, so I am okay...so far. I think 2013 is going to be a PHAT year.There are so many great castings in January 2013 alone.Lets see what God can do. NEW MODELING AGENCY

Ok guys, i know I have not kept up with this as well as I am supposed to so let me give you an update. 1. I am no longer with my former modeling agency. let me tell you exactly what happened.In my modeling contract, it said that i was supposed to contact her weekly. Ok.However, lots of times when id call her she would say, 'I'm busy im busy" let me call you back.." and may or may not call me back. Ok , well then i got into an accident and could not callfor several weeks.Instead of her asking me why i had NOT called her, instead, she has her worker/intern send me an email saying " your contract has been terminated"... i email this "mystery person and as k for a reason why and the person emails me chunks of the contract, so I am ASSUMING it has to do with the phone call thing. People, this is NOT how you run a business.This is NOT how you gain a loyal following..what this is is pure shadiness.That is it.You do NOT want to be with a modeling agency that thinks NOTHING of you.If she truly was caring, she would have called me HERSELF.To this day I have never heard from her, and that, my friends is what I call shadiness. And no I have not called her, why should I? I would never treat anyone like that, but if that is how she wants to choose me, that's cool.But I am sharing this with you so that you all can know that the modeling agents are not all the same. Some are crazy,obnoxious, and can be uncaring-- like mine. no matter how many jobs you may be booking, no one wants to be lead by an agent you can NOt freely speak to, one who yells and screams and makes her models cry ( not me, but ive seen other models crying); one who curses out some of her models, and one who has models who do not feel free.If you get an agent like that, be careful. Anyways, so i was dropped by this agent in the first week of May 2012. Two weeks later, i got another contract in New York..and I like her. A lot. Thats right--2 weeks later..So never fear my people. you can not put all your hope in modeling.You need to go to school and get an education=-- let modeling be a hobby, a side thing.if you make it a main thing, you'll be disappointed. So now i have a new agent and im quite happy with her.I went to the ESSENCE casting a few weeks ago, and Macy's is looking for new models in their ads- so lets wait and see what happens. Now you are up to date on me, one of the only African Plus Size Models in America:).

Today, May 5, 2012: there was a picture of me on VOGUE ITALIAS website, with the Caption " amy'. I am HIGHLY EXCITED ABOUT IT; http://www.vogue.it/en/vogue-curvy/curvy-news/2012/05/ford-new-face I was at the FORD+ casting..They didnot pick me.. this time-- but they will next time...seriously.perhaps I had to be more energetic or something, but Im just grateful that MY picture is on THEIR website!!!

TRANSPORTATION ...YIKES

I do not live in New York but all the castings are in New York right?So i usually take AMTRAK and no I do not know anyone who works for AMTRAK.Its March 19th so taxes are due soon.As I sit here putting all my paperwork together, I was putting together all my transportation costs related to MODELING.Do you know in the year of 2011, I spent more than 700 DOLLARS on AMTRAK!!! THATS CRAZY!! NO wonder I was dirt broke last year.And I only booked one job last year.700+ photo shoots I had to pay for, plus other model related fees--- OH MY GOSH!!! Im nearing the $2,000 mark in terms of money I have spent.THAT IS CRAZY!!!! The cost is WAY WAY WAY TOO HIGH!! Boys and girls, modeling is so so so expensive.Ay, a poor African girl like me, wasting money like that?!?!? Um, no, NO more AMTRAK for now on.ONLY BUS. That will save me at least 600 dollars. I cant believe I spent that much money-- no wonder I didn't have any money last year. RIDICULOUS!!!
